 Use of optiphi® during pregnancy

optiphi® Skin Rejuvenation Treatment – currently there is not sufficient literature available to support the safe use of or reception of a chemical peel during pregnancy. It is therefore recommended to consult with your medical practitioner before a treatment or refrain from treatments during pregnancy altogether. After delivery treatments may commence. The optiphi® Retail Range –products are safe for use during pregnancy, with exception to the Retinol containing products. Clinical data indicates the topical application of retinol fails to increase the serum levels of retinoids in humans, and so presents little risk for developmental toxicity. However, it is recommended to consult with your medical practitioner before using the product or to discontinue its use as a pre-cautionary measure until after pregnancy. All retinol containing product containers is indicated accordingly.

Can optiphi® be used if I’m on a prescriptive drug – Roaccutane?

optiphi® Skin Rejuvenation Treatment – it is not recommended to receive this treatment whilst using oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane®, Oratane® etc.) and for several months (6 to 12) afterwards. Using isotretinoins may make your skin more sensitive and delicate, especially during treatment and for several months afterwards.

optiphi® Retail Range – All optiphi® retail products can effectively and safely be used whilst receiving treatment with Roaccutane, except products containing retinol.

How quickly after starting the use of the optiphi®- range of actives, will I start to see a difference?

This will vary from client to client based on their skin condition and level of skin damage, as well as the amount of attention and therapy that is necessary to restore the skin to its healthy condition. It is however valuable to mention that most clients start to notice a change in their skin after two to three weeks. It is also important to note that more drastic results can be seen if the optiphi® Skin Rejuvenation Treatment is combined with the use of optiphi® homecare products.

Can the optiphi® Retail Range of Actives be used on very sensitive/sensitized skins?

With optiphi® products being pH-balanced and free from artificial colorants and fragrances, and being formulated in such a way as to restore the skin’s condition to its natural healthy state, they can all be used on sensitive skins. As with any skincare product it is important to note that certain individuals may have or develop sensitivity to one or more of the ingredients. In this case it is recommended to consult your doctor and to adapt your skin care regime accordingly.

Can the optiphi® Skin Rejuvenation Treatment be performed as a “Lunch-Time” Peel?

The optiphi® Skin Rejuvenation Peel is a glycolic acid based chemical peel. This type of peel is frequently called a “lunch time” peel, because the patient can return to work the same day, and can also apply make-up should it be necessary. Because these peels are light and gentle, the patient can return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.

Is Sun Protection important after an optiphi® Skin Rejuvenation Treatment or with the use of the Retail Range?

Due to the severe damaging effects that over-exposure to the sun can have on the skin, optiphi® advises that part of any healthy skincare regime, the use of an effective broad spectrum sunscreen product is mandatory.

Having an optiphi® Skin Rejuvenation Treatment or using an optiphi® product that contains retinol, can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, and therefore it is of utmost importance that a broad spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 15 be used whilst using the product/after the treatment, and for a week after discontinued use.

Please note that the optiphi® Skin Treatment regime is at all times subject to the recommendations and advice of a medical practitioner/physician or skincare therapist.
